View from the top: Fast-track innovation

Its been rather exciting this week as we have analysed all of the comments and scores awarded by public sector participants to many of the exhibitors who were present at our recent Innovation Festival. You’ll be able to read elsewhere in this issue about the category winners and hear more detail about upcoming innovation trials.

The amount of new connections created at the Festival has been phenomenal and I personally have made a number of new friends who I am sure I will work with in the future. Various individuals have stepped forward to ask how they can get more involved in LCRIG activities in the future which is so encouraging from my perspective. A number of exhibitors have reported obtaining the highest number of leads they have ever generated at such an event, and one exhibitor even reported the highest number of direct sales ever achieved at an event of this nature. The positive impact of the Festival continues to rumble on which speaks volumes about how successful the whole event was and we have already had some councils express an interest in hosting the LCRIG Innovation Festival 2023. Reading a post on LinkedIn earlier summed it up from an exhibitor perspective, ‘We love being part of industry first and this event was a superb chance to showcase our latest development. Immersing ourselves in the event it was clear to see that everyone embraced the spirit of making the case for innovation’.

I’m so proud about how LCRIG played its roll in bringing together the entire sector in one place, where issues were discussed and solutions proposed. As a result I have a new optimism about our ability to ‘fast-track’ innovation which will undoubtedly make the sector more attractive to new entrants and which in turn will impact the skills shortage.

Make sure you play your part as we transform the sector together.
