Final Call: One Week Left to Enter the DfT Special Recognition Apprentice Awards 2026

There is now just one week left to submit nominations for the DfT Special Recognition Apprentice Awards 2026.

These awards celebrate the exceptional apprentices helping to shape the future of the highways and road infrastructure technology sector. Now in their second year, the awards recognise individuals and organisations demonstrating outstanding commitment to skills, innovation, and professional development.

If you know an apprentice who is making a difference, or if you are an apprentice with a story to share, now is the time to enter.

The awards are proudly sponsored by WJ Group and form part of the Innovation and Learning Festival, taking place 24-25 June 2026 at NAEC Stoneleigh. Winners will be announced during the festival’s evening networking event on 24 June, bringing together industry leaders, local authorities, and innovators for a relaxed and celebratory evening recognising the next generation of talent.

Hear from a 2025 Winner

“Winning the competition felt incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about recognition, it felt like a moment that validated the importance of investing in young people and promoting careers in highways and transport. As someone who started their journey as an apprentice, I know first-hand how impactful early outreach and support can be. To now be recognised for trying to offer that same support to the next generation is a full-circle moment I’m so proud of.”
