Inspired by Will Britain, the founder of LCRIG, the Best of Britain Award celebrates a public sector individual working as an officer or manager within a local authority who has gone above and beyond to engage with their local community, improve local services, change local perceptions or play a key role in the highways sector.
While many industry awards recognise lifetime achievement or achievements in the private sector, this award is dedicated to celebrating local authority employees, whatever their grade, whose commitment and passion deserve recognition.
Last year’s winner, Manjit Singh, Principal Engineer Traffic Signals at City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, was recognised for his exceptional dedication to improving local services, mentoring colleagues and making a lasting difference to both the council and the wider community.
The judges said:
“An inspiring submission, showcasing many examples of how Manjit has not only supported the council but also driven improvements in efficiency, accessibility and functionality through his role. His dedication extends far beyond this, through the guidance and mentorship he provides to colleagues and his active involvement in the wider community.”
