NY Highways are looking to engage with highways-related businesses that operate in the North Yorkshire area to join their brand-new Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS).
The DPS will open the door to suppliers of all sizes to contribute to NY Highways’ work in maintaining 5,800 miles of roads in North Yorkshire.
In particular, they are encouraging micro and SME companies that operate locally to apply to join the system and potentially get involved in more work in the area.
The system will cover a comprehensive range of services and products related to highways maintenance activities and will streamline NY Highways’ supply chain and procurement processes.
Examples of types of highways maintenance suppliers or businesses NY Highways want to include on their DPS include; civils, surfacing, surveys, traffic management, plant hire, street furniture, and more.
Nick Burgess, Buying Manager at NY Highways, said: “This type of DPS will be a first for NY Highways, and possibly for the industry. We want to engage with a range of suppliers, particularly local businesses, who can help us maintain and improve the highways infrastructure in the area.”

We believe this DPS will enhance efficiency, foster innovation, and build stronger partnerships within North Yorkshire’s highways maintenance sector.”
Following the launch of the tender process, NY Highways held an open day to walk through the process of applying for the DPS and the benefits of being included on the system. The day was a success, with several businesses visiting and showing an interest in the DPS.
At present, over 100 suppliers and businesses have applied to be part of NY Highways’ DPS and they are working through applications to ensure as many are accepted onto the system as possible.
