Monotch joins FUSE4CCAM project to advance connected mobility data exchange

Monotch is contributing to a new Horizon Europe project aimed at improving how data is shared across Europe’s connected, cooperative and automated mobility (CCAM) ecosystem.

Connecting Europe’s CCAM data spaces through real-time data exchange

Coordinated by ERTICO – ITS Europe, FUSE4CCAM (Federated Unified Services advancing next generation data Exchange for CCAM) will bring together existing data platforms and initiatives to create a more connected, secure and interoperable environment for sharing information across organisations and national borders.

Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) depends on reliable data moving between vehicles, road infrastructure, traffic systems and other stakeholders. Today, much of that data is distributed across separate platforms, initiatives and countries. Connecting these environments is essential if CCAM applications are to operate effectively across borders and at scale.

This is the challenge addressed by FUSE4CCAM (Federated Unified Services advancing next generation data Exchange for CCAM), a Horizon Europe project coordinated by ERTICO – ITS Europe. Monotch is one of the project partners, contributing its experience in real-time data exchange and interoperability. The project started on 1 October 2026 and will run until 30 September 2029, with €3.85 million in EU funding.

Connecting Europe’s mobility data

At the heart of FUSE4CCAM is the development of the CCAM Data Exchange Platform (CCAM-DEP): a federated and sovereign environment designed to connect existing and emerging data-space initiatives rather than create another isolated ecosystem.

The project will work to make data easier to find, access, combine and reuse across different systems and organisations. This includes harmonising taxonomies, ontologies and interfaces in line with FAIR and SIMPL principles, as well as developing governance and federated certification in cooperation with National Access Points and NAPCORE.

FUSE4CCAM will also address two challenges that are becoming increasingly important for connected and automated mobility: exchanging data in real time and providing access to high-quality datasets for AI training and validation.

The ambition is to support stakeholders across the mobility ecosystem. Vehicle manufacturers, for example, need reliable data to train and test automated-driving systems. Cities and road authorities need connected traffic data for traffic management, analysis and oversight. Connecting these different needs requires not only access to data, but also interoperability, trust and clear control over how data is exchanged.

Bringing real-time data exchange into FUSE4CCAM

This is where Monotch contributes practical experience from real-world connected mobility deployments. TLEX® enables real-time data exchange between road infrastructure, road users, applications and data exchange networks, connecting different systems and organisations while supporting trusted and interoperable data exchange.

Within FUSE4CCAM, Monotch will contribute expertise in three areas:

  1. Real-time data streaming
TLEX exchanges live, low-latency data, including traffic-light status and timing information and V2X messages. This experience contributes to FUSE4CCAM’s work on real-time data streaming across connected CCAM environments.
  2. Federation with data-provider control
The TLEX Federation Block supports secure data exchange between ecosystems, countries and organisations while enabling data providers to retain control over their data. This is particularly relevant as FUSE4CCAM connects existing data-space initiatives rather than replacing them.
  3. The road authority perspective
Through its work with cities and road authorities, Monotch brings practical experience with governance, access policies and data quality. This helps connect the technical development of data exchange with the operational needs of road authorities and the applications that depend on their data.

From separate initiatives to connected CCAM ecosystems

For connected and automated mobility to scale across Europe, data must be able to move securely and reliably beyond individual platforms, organisations and national borders. FUSE4CCAM aims to create the foundations for that exchange while building on existing European initiatives and infrastructure.

For Monotch, the project is a natural extension of its work to connect mobility and digital infrastructure and enable organisations, systems and road users to exchange data in real time.

The FUSE4CCAM project website is expected to launch in the coming months. In the meantime, more information about the project is available on the CORDIS project page.
