LCRIG has been awarded the contract to provide secretariat services to the UK Roads Leadership Group (UKRLG) and the UK National Committee of the World Road Association (PIARC UK), further strengthening its role in supporting collaboration, knowledge sharing and innovation across the UK roads sector.
The appointment represents an important development for LCRIG and brings together some of the sector’s most established networks, creating new opportunities to connect expertise, share best practice and support the priorities of the UK roads community.
LCRIG already provides secretariat services to the Transport Technology Forum (TTF) and works with local highway authorities, central government and the supply chain across the UK. Bringing UKRLG and PIARC UK alongside these existing activities will create stronger connections between the different organisations and the communities they represent.
UKRLG brings together representatives from national and local government across the UK, providing leadership and guidance on roads infrastructure engineering and operations. Its work plays an important role in shaping the direction of the sector and supporting the development of the UK’s road network.
Through PIARC UK, LCRIG will also support the UK’s involvement in the World Road Association, helping to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and experience between the UK and the international roads community.
The appointment builds on LCRIG’s existing work with international partners, and its involvement in major international events such as the ITS World Congress. It also creates opportunities to connect the work of UKRLG and PIARC UK with LCRIG’s wider activities, helping to share knowledge, promote innovation and ensure that valuable insight reaches those working across the sector.
Kerry Winstanley, Managing Director at LCRIG, said:
“We’re delighted to have been awarded this contract and are really looking forward to working with UKRLG, PIARC UK and the various boards and committees that support their work.
“For me, one of the most exciting aspects of this appointment is the opportunity it creates to bring together the LCRIG and TTF communities, alongside UKRLG and PIARC UK. There is already so much knowledge, experience and expertise across these networks, and by connecting them more closely, we have an opportunity to create greater value for the sector.
“We’re looking forward to building on the excellent work already taking place, strengthening relationships and exploring how we can use LCRIG’s wider activities and reach to support the work of both UKRLG and PIARC UK.
“It’s an exciting time for LCRIG, but more importantly, it’s a great opportunity to bring people together and support the UK highways community.”
