This week, our CEO Paula Claytonsmith features as the guest speaker on Highways Voices. Paula reveals the new features, experiences, and opportunities awaiting delegates at next month’s Innovation & Learning Festival and explains why it is the must-attend event for anyone working in the highways and transport technology sector.
During the podcast, Paula explains why the festival is moving to a new venue at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire; “It’s nice to move to a new venue, which we know will have better facilities, better food facilities, better networking facilities, and a more compact layout which of course allows for greater collaboration.” The change in venue also reflects an effort to reduce carbon emissions by choosing a location with nearby hotels.
Paula addresses the comprehensive focus of the Innovation & Learning Festival which includes both highways maintenance and technology. This year, the team has worked hard to ensure the presence of new types of innovations, such as the world’s first autonomous pothole machine, and innovative wall-climbing robots.
In addition, Paula talks about the launch of the new Start-Up Zone, designed to provide opportunities for small and emerging businesses to showcase their innovative solutions and pioneering technologies. Eligible companies can apply for a funded place at the event, emphasising the festival’s commitment to showcasing new talent and ideas.
Paula also reveals the reasons behind the event’s new name and the introduction of two new theatres. The Technical Learning Theatre will serve as a dynamic space for interactive and engaging CPD technical training sessions, while the outdoor Innovation Think Pavilion will host a series of interactive sessions and facilitated workshops. These new additions aim to create an environment for creative discussions and idea generation.
