The date for the next event in the Local Council Roads Innovation Group’s (LCRIG) webinar series ‘Practical steps on the journey to net zero’ has been confirmed – with the event focusing on carbon reduction in fleet.
The webinar is being sponsored by leading specialist road marking business WJ Group and will take place on Tuesday 07 February 2023 at 11am.
WJ recently competed against more than 500 other nominations to be awarded an international Green Apple Environment award in the campaign to find the greenest companies. Their nomination “Reducing Carbon through Life Cycle Assessment Models” detailed the development of their product carbon footprint calculator and how they were able to reduce embedded carbon within their materials.
Paul Aldridge, Sustainability Director at WJ Group said: “Sustainability really is at the heart of all our decisions as a business and we have a vision to ensure we are delivering long-term value for all our stakeholders, whilst supporting our communities and protecting the planet in every way we can.”
The webinar will explore some of the actions that can be taken to help achieve carbon reduction in fleet.
Topics of discussion will include:
– How to calculate vehicle emissions
– Implementing the right charging infrastructure
– Decarbonising production machinery
– Steps to reduce use of vehicles
– Implementation of future technologies (e.g. hydrogen, biofuels, HVO)
Details of speakers will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Colas and Breedon are the primary partners for the series which will explore in detail the work being done to accelerate the transition to clean energy and sustainable roads.

This event will be hosted on the LCRIG Webinar platform.
