Dates announced for key LCRIG events in 2023

The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has revealed the dates of when its flagship events will take place in 2023.

LCRIG’s Innovation Festival will take place from 4-5 July at Newark Showground.

The Innovation Festival is an event where products, solutions, new innovations and techniques can be displayed and demonstrated over a range of live demonstration sessions. The event provides local authorities with a chance to find out about new innovations from the supply chain that will help to meet their current and future challenges.

The festival is linked to the LCRIG Innovation Fund which encourages innovation by providing funding for innovation development and also matches innovators with local authorities looking to trial new products on their networks.

Last year’s inaugural event saw more than 450 delegates including 60 different highway authorities in attendance.

“It was a brilliant couple of days, the interest and validation we received from so many councils and individuals was unbelievable.” Bradley Abbott, KERBED IT.

“It was a great couple of days and for Meon it gave us an excellent opportunity to share the work we are doing to help drive towards net zero highways, to huge number of people. It was a great event for us.” Neil Potter, Meon.

“I just wanted to offer Leeds City Council’s congratulations and sincere thanks for what was an extremely informative, well run and enjoyable event. Right through from the venue, papers, exhibitors, live demonstrations, refreshments, transport, accommodation and entertainment (the magician was amazing), it was a pleasure to have been a delegate and I am aware that my colleagues feel the same.” Ian Moore, Leeds City Council

“Everybody needed this after the last few years and to get together as clients and suppliers was great, good discussions, plenty of time to meet the exhibitors, great weather so we could not ask for anything more.” David Denner, Welsh Government

Strictly Highways returns to the iconic Winter Gardens in Blackpool from 3-5 October.

The annual event brings together the whole highways community, including councils, the Department for Transport (DfT), academia, industry associations, the supply chain and media. It enables everyone to learn about new innovation and technology, share experiences, receive updates from the DfT and showcases the industry associations.

The event provides key insights from local government, and others in the areas of innovation, skills, net zero, and collaboration, whilst making the case for local roads.

This year’s event saw more than 370 delegates attend over the two days. There was also representation from more than 70 different highway authorities from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with all local authority delegates receiving fully funded places which included, accommodation, catering and refreshments.

“Another fantastic LCRIG conference bringing our industry together.” Jon Munslow, Cambridgeshire Highways

“Another fantastic event put together by #LCRIG – great to see so many get together to present and network on transportation now and future plans.

LCRIG Content Director Alec Peachey said: “After the success of our inaugural Innovation Festival and Strictly Highways in 2022 we are delighted to be announcing the dates for next year’s events. We will be providing more information about both events in the coming weeks and months and look forward to welcoming our members and the wider industry to both Newark and Blackpool. By confirming the dates for the Innovation Festival and Strictly Highways now we hope that everyone will get the dates in their diaries.”
