About Primary Engineer ®

Primary Engineer is a purpose-led, not-for-profit organisation with a mission to inspire and engage primary and secondary pupils, and their teachers, in the vast and exciting world of engineering and technology.

Through a variety of programmes and competitions, Primary Engineer enable teachers to confidently embed engineering in their curriculum and, crucially, bring a real-world context into the classroom for pupils through meaningful and direct engagement with the companies and organisations that support us.

Dr Susan Scurlock MBE, CEO and Founder of Primary Engineer, said:

“Our collaboration with LCRIG as a member organisation, has not only allowed us to connect with a vibrant community of industry leaders, but it’s also been a powerful way to inspire young people and shine a light on the diverse career opportunities in the highways and transportation sector.

“We’re especially excited that LCRIG’s CEO, Paula Claytonsmith, will be joining us as a judge helping decide which medallists will receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold Medal at our Primary Engineer MacRobert Medal award ceremony in London later this year.

“The award recognises and celebrates the achievements of the engineers who have turned the ideas of school pupils submitted to our annual ‘If you were an engineer, what would you do?’ competition into reality through the creation of a prototype.”
