The deadline to enter the DfT Special Recognition Apprentice Awards and the Inspiring the Future Competition has been extended to 5pm on Wednesday 9th April 2025.
Following continued interest and submissions after the original closing date, the deadline has been extended to give as many apprentices as possible the opportunity to be recognised and celebrated. As the first event of its kind in the sector, this extension ensures more individuals can take part in recognising emerging talent across highways and transport technology.
Recognising the Future of the Sector
The awards will be presented at the LCRIG Innovation & Learning Festival on 2–3 July 2025, providing a platform for apprentices to engage with the wider sector. During the festival, apprentices will have the opportunity to attend CPD-certified technical training sessions, meet sector leaders, explore innovations in the exhibition zones, and witness live demonstrations.
As part of LCRIG’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity and skills development, 50 fully funded apprentice places are available – including accommodation, travel to and from the venue, catering, and access to both days of the event.
Organisations Already Involved
Apprentices have already been nominated by a wide range of organisations including:
Amey Staffordshire, Breedon Group, Eurovia, Highway Care, North East Lincolnshire Council, Portsmouth City Council, Salford City Council, Transport for West Midlands, Waterman Group, WJ Group, and a number of local authorities from across the South West, Yorkshire and the Humber, London Boroughs, and the South East.
Organisations are encouraged to join them and put forward nominations before the revised deadline.
