Sector Spotlight Interview: Greg Clark, Quality Marking Services – Precision in Action

Next week, the QMS team is hosting Precision in Action at Westpoint Arena, Exeter. Taking place on 18th March from 9am-4pm, this event offers an opportunity for industry professionals to explore some of the latest advancements in road marking technology.

Ahead of the event, we spoke with Greg Clark, Managing Director at Quality Marking Services (QMS), to learn more about what attendees can expect.

QMS has been a family-run business for two generations. How has it evolved to meet industry demands, and what innovations have shaped its journey?

When my father, Ralph, and I founded QMS in 2001, we knew we wanted to do things differently. We saw the potential in cold-applied markings early on and pioneered the QMS HyperLine™ system, setting a new benchmark for durability and precision.

But we didn’t stop there. Our passion for innovation led to the development of HyperGrip™ high friction surfacing, designed to enhance road safety in all conditions. We’ve continued to refine our materials and application methods, keeping ahead of industry changes and ensuring safer, more efficient road networks. The journey of QMS is a testament to our team’s creativity, dedication, and unyielding spirit of innovation!

Can you share what inspired the QMS Precision in Action 2025 event and what attendees can expect from it?

After participating in numerous industry events, we felt it was time to open our doors and offer an interactive and informative experience that provides insight into its processes, technologies, and expertise.

Precision in Action is an opportunity for local authorities, contractors, and maintenance teams to see QMS’s innovations up close. The event features hands-on displays, live demonstrations, and expert insights into cutting-edge road marking and surfacing solutions and attendees will gain first-hand experience of the precision, quality, and reliability that define our work.

What key advancements will be showcased at the event?

We are excited to showcase some of our latest innovations, including:

  • HyperLine™ System – A durable, cold-applied marking solution designed for superior visibility and longevity.
  • HyperGrip™ High-Friction Surfacing – A system engineered to enhance safety in high-risk areas by improving grip and traction, particularly in adverse weather.
  • Live Demonstrations – Real-time applications showcasing the efficiency and effectiveness of QMS systems in action.
  • Sustainability Innovations – Insight into the eco-friendly materials and practices QMS is integrating into its processes.
  • Customisation Options – Solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of local authorities and contractors.

We want attendees to experience the technology up close and leave with a clear understanding of how these advancements can benefit their projects.

What advice would you give to those considering cold-applied systems for their projects?

If you’re thinking about implementing cold-applied road marking solutions, here’s what I would recommend:

  • Understand the Benefits – Faster application, reduced environmental impact, and long-lasting durability make cold-applied systems a strong alternative to traditional methods.
  • Assess Project Needs – Consider factors such as surface type, traffic volume, and climate conditions to select the best solution.
  • Explore Available Options – Research different materials and technologies, such as HyperLine™ and HyperGrip™, to find the best fit for specific applications.
  • Consult Industry Experts – Engage with professionals, including QMS representatives, to gain valuable guidance on product selection and best practices.
  • Plan for Maintenance and Longevity – Regular monitoring and maintenance will ensure the continued effectiveness of road markings.

Cold-applied systems can be a game-changer for road safety when implemented correctly.

Where do you see the future of cold-applied technology heading, and how is QMS preparing for it?

The future of cold-applied technology is exciting, with a growing focus on performance, sustainability, and adaptability. Here’s some of the key trends we’re anticipating:

  • Enhanced Durability – We’re constantly refining our formulas to improve performance in all conditions.
  • Eco-Friendly Innovations – Sustainability is a priority, and we’re committed to using sustainable materials and methods.
  • Greater Customisation – As clients evolve, we’re developing tailored solutions to meet diverse project requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance – We stay ahead of evolving safety standards to ensure continued industry leadership.

At QMS, we are investing in research, development, and sustainability, to remain at the forefront of innovation in road safety and marking solutions.
