Did you know, road run-off is pollution caused when vehicles deposit debris containing over 300 chemicals on the road surface? Then, rainfall pushes the pollutants from roads into rivers and as a result water quality becomes unsustainable, collapsing ecosystems and killing wildlife.
According to Keyline, 18% of water body failures in England are due to road run-off pollution. Also, the water framework directive sets an objective to restore all rivers to good ecological status by December 2027, but only 14% of rivers in England have a good ecological status
