LCRIG’s Journey: Celebrating 200 Corporate Members

We are delighted to announce the addition of our 200th Corporate Member as we welcome Tony Gee into the LCRIG Community.

A Milestone Built on Collaboration

Reaching our 200th Corporate Member is a testament to our unwavering commitment to collaboration, the driving force behind our mission. We serve as a vital link between central and local government, the supply chain, and the wider highways sector, fostering meaningful partnerships, working together to drive positive change in the highways and transport technology sector.

From supporting start-ups in gaining visibility and securing essential funding, to helping established industry leaders pioneer innovative approaches, our dedication to innovation and collaboration continues to shape the future of highways.

Founding Members

When LCRIG first invited the supply chain sector to join our community, more than 20 pioneering companies answered our initial call, ranging from dynamic SMEs to well-established corporations. These founding members laid the foundations for what is now a thriving and innovative community.

We are immensely proud that our founding members remain active within the LCRIG community today.

A Thriving Community

With 200 Corporate Members and over 370 members in total, we are more committed than ever to fostering collaboration and innovation across the supply chain and beyond. This milestone is not just a celebration about LCRIG’s growth, it’s a celebration of the incredible community we have built together.

Reflecting on this journey, Susanne Ingham, Relationship Director at LCRIG, shared:

“The journey started with Starlotty (Charlotte) and me working from a kitchen table in 2008. Nothing like this had been done before, but we knew how vital this initiative was in bringing the public and private sectors together. In 2017 we caught up with the legend himself – Will Britain, formerly Head of Highways for Blackpool Council, who shared the same vision. Before we knew it, we also had the support and encouragement of the late, great, (and sadly missed) Steve Berry, OBE.

“From day one, it was amazing how so many companies, pledged their support. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, and I would like to thank all of our founding members for their lovely testimonials…. they made me quite emotional.  Thanks a million to everyone!!!!”

On This Journey Together

To mark this milestone, we spoke with some of our founding members about what being part of LCRIG has meant to them.

Sandra Smith, Office and Procurement Manager at Tac-Grid:

“As a relatively new company with a highways innovation product, the ability to showcase our Tac-Grid Tactile System to local authorities has been a business saviour. Finding Susanne and LCRIG and becoming a member is something we will be forever grateful for.”

“A highlight was receiving a grant from the Steve Berry Think Exceptional Innovation Fund, which enabled us to develop the Highways Dashboard, a beacon technology management system.”

Olly Samways, Sales Director at Westcotec:

“When I first met Susanne and Charlotte, they were representing ‘The Rich Works’, an initiative designed to share industry insights. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and Westcotec immediately saw the value in supporting LCRIG.”

“At the time, Westcotec was undergoing its largest transformation – shifting to an Employee Ownership structure while experiencing rapid growth. Aligning with LCRIG was the perfect opportunity.”

“Since becoming a founding member, we have attended almost every LCRIG event, both in the UK and overseas. Two stand-out events for us were the ITS World Congress in Los Angeles and the Innovation Festival. These platforms allowed us to showcase our innovations to key industry players and expand our international reach.”

Steve Birdsall, CEO at Gaist

“As a driving force behind a new era of road condition surveying, Gaist has been intrinsically linked with LCRIG from its inception, and we are very proud to have been one of the very first commercial members.”

“Our shared vision for innovation and challenging industry norms made us a natural fit as founding members. Over the years, we’ve been proud to contribute to LCRIG’s success through support for pioneering events and collaborating with member local authorities to drive real change.”

“With the next 12 months set to bring transformative shifts in highways condition surveying, Gaist remains at the forefront – working alongside LCRIG to ensure its members continue to benefit from cutting-edge innovation.”

Aimee Dewse, Marketing Manager at Multevo

“LCRIG and Multevo have grown together from the very beginning. We share a similar ethos – challenging traditional ways of working and making a lasting difference in the industry.”

“We were the first LCRIG member to get onto the IPS framework, which transformed our ability to work with local authorities.”

“We’ve also witnessed the hard work that has gone into getting LCRIG to where it is today. LCRIG is based just down the road for us, so it’s fantastic to support a local yet national cause. We’re really proud to be a part of LCRIG’s journey and to see its continued growth.”

“For companies considering joining LCRIG – if you want to be part of a community that is truly making a difference, look no further. LCRIG is leading the way, from encouraging younger generations into the sector to providing unique networking opportunities. We can’t thank them enough for their support over the years.”

Phill Lewis, Business Development at Nuphalt Contracting

“From day one, we knew we wanted to be part of LCRIG. Their enthusiasm is unmatched in our industry. Through initiatives like Project Amber, LCRIG has brought together contractors of all sizes, combining knowledge to generate innovative ideas that reduce costs and improve efficiencies.”

“LCRIG’s Innovation Festival and Strictly Highways events are truly unique, providing unparalleled opportunities to connect with local authority clients and industry peers in an engaging and professional setting. You know that visitors to your stand or guests at your table are genuinely interested in engaging with your services.”
