This recognition highlights the innovative approaches and collaborative efforts undertaken to enhance road safety and sustainable road marking, through the development of the RoadLiner 570 Road Marking System & Rapid Cure Paint Technology.
The RoadLiner 570 represents a significant advancement in road marking technology. This cold-applied road marking machine eliminates the need for hot works, thereby removing associated safety risks. It delivers MMA road markings that set within just two minutes at 20 degrees, ensuring quick and efficient application.
Traditionally, cold-applied systems were limited to hand tools and small machinery, but the RoadLiner 570’s scaled-up buggy system with a comprehensive safety package marks a transformative leap forward in operator protection and overall road safety.
The impact of the RoadLiner 570 extends beyond innovation; it directly contributes to enhanced road safety. Increased visibility of road markings has been proven to significantly reduce road traffic accidents (RTAs).
In 2007, the Road Safety Markings Association (RSMA) demonstrated that improving road marking visibility can lead to a 62% reduction in RTAs. The RoadLiner 570 enhances nighttime visibility by at least 100% and offers greatly improved durability compared to conventional road marking technologies.
Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways Management explained: “I’m pleased to say that Devon County Council will be one of the first authorities in the county to use this new road marking technology as a matter of course. We’ve adopted an approach to reduce carbon emissions in all of our highway maintenance projects to ensure we can meet our carbon reduction targets.
“It’s good for the motorist, the council and the environment; as the lines cure in just a tenth of the time it will reduce disruption to the network, because its more durable it will save time and resources as markings won’t need to be renewed as often and its application will produce significantly less carbon emissions.”
The nomination for the Highways Award underscores the importance of innovation and collaboration in advancing road safety.
