The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has announced the latest exciting collaboration for its upcoming Innovation and Learning Festival.
LCRIG Academia Member, Loughborough University, will showcase its latest InnovateUK-funded Transfer Partnership (KTP) projects as part of the new Academia Zone.
Professor Marcus Enoch, Professor in Transport Strategy at Loughborough University will be in attendance on the exhibition stand to present results from the BusMONITOR project, a study conducted with bus and software company Vectare, which examines the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to provide passenger transport operators with high quality data analysis and enabling targeted focus on customer experience enhancement. He will also present the rePLACE project, which is developing a predictive pedestrian forecasting tool that enables planning and design services for urban regeneration, master planning and facilitates community planning engagement, and which is being worked in collaboration with London-based architecture practice, the Oval Partnership.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to see a display of original artefacts from the Ticketing Board, an interactive learning aid that presents a dynamic categorisation framework of ticketing types to help educate students and transport professionals about the choices faced when designing passenger transport ticketing, and hence inform the next generation of systems.
Furthermore, Professor Enoch will be showcasing ‘Windscreen of the Future: Managing the Future of Automobility’ which explores how vehicles will need to be increasingly managed and controlled, possibly through an increased amount of clutter applied to the windscreen. In a shift towards smarter mobility, the project emphasizes the importance of increasing digitalisation and intelligence, lowering carbon intensity/electrification and finally automation.
Professor Enoch said: “We are excited to be taking part in this year’s Innovation & Learning Festival. As a university with a strong reputation for working with industry and for transport research, the Innovation & Learning Festival presents us with a great opportunity to highlight some of the projects that we are working on which can help local authorities to address the challenges they face. It is also a great opportunity for us to support local authorities with graduate placements and internships.”
Taking place at NAEC Stoneleigh from 2nd to 3rd July 2024, the festival promises to highlight new innovations and advancements in the highways and transportation sector.
