The Innovation Procurement System (IPS) provides highway leaders with the tools to have flexibility in their delivery models and supplements traditional arrangements, such as Term Maintenance contract.

Local authorities can utilise the IPS to access innovation at scale at a lower cost than other routes to market. Supported by Department for Transport (DfT) and created in partnership with CCS, the IPS is designed to remove barriers to innovation and to keep pace with changes in the market.

Timeline

The first category to launch is highway surface treatment innovations. This covers innovative ways to maintain and extend the life of the carriageways, cycleways and footways.

Following the implementation of the first phase, additional categories will be launched and more information on these will follow later in 2023.

Registering for Use

LCRIG Council Members are asked to register each procurement with LCRIG which they will undertake.
