About our New Members
PowerCem Technologies
Soil stabilisation specialist, PowerCem Technologies, provides innovative binders, designed to facilitate a wide range of soils which are not suitable for simple cement, or lime, stabilisation – including topsoils and high sulphate clays. Their applications span permanent and temporary roads, piling mats, car parks, working platforms and, most recently, wetlands. By utilising site-won materials, PowerCem significantly reduces the number of HGV movements to and from site, potentially reducing the carbon footprint by up to 80%.
Andy Leask, Managing Director at PowerCem Technologies expressed his enthusiasm about joining the LCRIG community: “PowerCem Technologies has joined LCRIG to facilitate conversations with Highway Authorities about how PowerCem binders can enable construction of roads which will have a longer lifespan than those built with stone subbase and will contribute a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of road construction.”
Birmingham City Council
Thomas Clarkson-Williams, Highways Asset Manager at Birmingham City Council expressed his goals for joining the LCRIG community: “Birmingham Highways is very much interested in keeping abreast with and contributing to matters on sustainability, customers, health and safety, efficiency, collaboration, technology and innovation. We hope to improve access to information, products, case studies, suppliers, designers and stakeholders.”

As a growing community of over 350 members consisting of government, local authorities, national organisations, supply chain, academia and associations, LCRIG is actively facilitating positive change and innovation in the highways sector.
