This week, we are delighted to welcome INSPECH, a Dutch start-up based in Amsterdam, to our expanding LCRIG community.
INSPECH specialises in AI-based applications that leverage 2D camera and video analytics to support road condition assessments and strategic maintenance planning for local authorities and civil engineering companies. Their innovative solution allows users to collect data via a GoPro GPS camera mounted on the rear of any vehicle, facing downward to record the road surface along a selected route. As the vehicle travels, the camera records live footage, which is then uploaded into INSPECH’s platform. This platform creates and visualises a digital twin of the road network, accessible through a map-based user interface.

“We are a young Dutch start-up based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We develop AI-based software applications including INSPECH which is designed for local authorities engaged in roads management and maintenance. It is a web-based application that only requires access to a browser to use it. It enables road inspectors to assess road conditions using digital tools and standards such as PCI for inspection and defect classification for cracks, potholes and so forth. The AI accelerates this with auto-detection. Maintenance planning enables asset managers to allocate repair treatments and costing of schemes to optimise strategic planning and use of funding. We have INSPECH clients over the world and are now entering the UK for the first time.
