The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) has announced the latest exciting collaboration for its upcoming Innovation and Learning Festival.
National Highways, the government owned company responsible for operating, maintaining and improving motorways and major A roads in England, will exhibit at this summer’s Festival, as part of the LCRIG, TTF and National Highways Pavilion, situated in the indoor exhibition hall.
In addition, National Highways will also be showcasing innovative wall-climbing robotics. The innovation was one of the winning entries from the Innovator Accelerator programme, launched by National Highways with partners Kier and Connected Places Catapult.
National Highways is a long standing Partner Member of LCRIG, with Dr Joanna White, Research, Development and Innovation Director at National Highways, also a member of LCRIG’s Infrastructure Innovation Board.
Joanna commented: “At National Highways we want to speed up innovation within our sector and adopt new solutions. LCRIG’s Innovation and Learning Festival gives us a great opportunity to connect with innovators to learn about their products and solutions, and to identify any that could be trialled in the context of strategic roads.”
The presence of National Highways at the Festival represents a united effort to share knowledge and best practice and to drive innovation in the sector, providing a platform for the dissemination of innovative research and transferable solutions that can be applied to the local road network.
Charlotte Bromley, Events Manager at LCRIG said: “We are delighted that National Highways is supporting this year’s Festival. Their support underpins our commitment to connecting the sector through innovation and collaboration.
“Last year’s event attracted over 600 attendees across the two days – with 230 public sector delegates and representation from 80 different local highway authorities from across England, Scotland and Wales. Feedback received from public sector attendees stated that they found the event useful for discovering new products, sharing information, networking and making new contacts. This year, our commitment is to build upon last year’s success, providing an unparalleled opportunity for attendees to explore the latest in cutting-edge solutions from across the sector.”
The announcement follows last week’s news that Coventry University will be showcasing their latest innovations at the Festival.
