View from the Top: Innovation and Learning

This week, I’ve been in the office where we’ve been meeting as a team to continue planning for our 2024 flagship LCRIG Events. This week we’ve been planning the 2024 Innovation & Learning Festival.

For the last two years, we’ve held the successful Innovation Festival at Newark Showground, and like any good organisation we’ve learnt and improved it each year. This year will see several big changes that are based on feedback from our members, but also because that’s what we do at LCRIG – we keep pushing what we can do and what services we offer to encourage collaboration and innovation, and of course connections across the sector.

One very big change is the venue! This year we’ll be at Stoneleigh Showground with even better facilities for attendees and exhibitors. Another big change is incorporating “learning” not just into the Festival title, but also blended into the programme. Innovation and Learning, go hand in hand, fundamentally innovation is a learning process. Whether it’s learning about new ways of doing things, or learning to expand knowledge to then have the understanding of what innovation can do – it’s all critical.

Innovation, can be micro or macro, it can be something new to one organisation, but a legacy in another – but the key point is that innovation can be very different depending on your starting point. So, this year we want to offer opportunities for technical CPD learning at the event, opportunities to see new innovations, but also see what exhibitors and the supply chain have to offer, along with other introductions that we think will make this year’s event even better!

Of course, some things won’t change. We will keep the LCRIG sparkle that so many people like and tell us to NEVER lose. We are evolving the programme to include our government and partner members, and we will keep the same strong balance of attendees between public and private sector, and of course, the bands will return! So, on with our planning and it’ll all be released very soon!
