Representatives from Oxfordshire County Council and Transport for London (TfL) will form part of a webinar panel that will explore some of the actions which can be taken to help achieve carbon reduction in fleet.
The webinar is part of the Local Council Roads Innovation Group’s (LCRIG) series entitled ‘Practical steps on the journey to net zero’. It is being sponsored by leading specialist road marking business WJ Group and will take place on Tuesday 07 February 2023 at 11am.
Dr Andrew Neather is the lead for Air Quality and Environment in TfL’s Corporate Communications department and coordinates stakeholder communications on the Ultra Low Emission Zone.
Prior to joining TfL in 2015 he was the Evening Standard’s Comment Editor and speechwriter to Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
Kunal Prasad is Climate Action Delivery Manager at Oxfordshire County Council.
Kunal has been involved in developing and delivering projects on building energy efficiency, fleet decarbonisation, EV charging infrastructure for fleet, emissions reporting, etc, to enable the council to meet their net zero target.
Andrew and Kunal will be joined by Paul Aldridge, who is Sustainability Director for WJ Group. Paul has extensive experience in the highways industry, having joined as an operative in 1982, preceding a successful career in operations as a senior manager and then Managing Director for WJ before moving into sustainability. He has a passion for responsible business and the transformation businesses can help create to tackle climate change, address inequality, and enable enhanced social value. Paul was appointed WJ Group Sustainability Director in April 2018.
WJ recently competed against more than 500 other nominations to be awarded an international Green Apple Environment award in the campaign to find the greenest companies.
Their nomination “Reducing Carbon through Life Cycle Assessment Models” detailed the development of their product carbon footprint calculator and how they were able to reduce embedded carbon within their materials.
Colas and Breedon are the primary partners for the series which will explore in detail the work being done to accelerate the transition to clean energy and sustainable roads.
The carbon reduction in fleet webinar will look at:
– How to calculate vehicle emissions
– Implementing the right charging infrastructure
– Decarbonising production machinery
– Steps to reduce use of vehicles
– Implementation of future technologies (e.g. hydrogen, biofuels, HVO)
