Duraproducts has completed a project at Mount Lucas Training Centre in County Offaly, showcasing how innovative drainage technology can support sustainable infrastructure development while delivering efficient surface water management.
Mount Lucas Training Centre is a nationally recognised facility providing training for the construction industry and the renewable energy sector. As part of ongoing improvements across the campus, new access roads and pedestrian routes were developed to support modern training infrastructure.
To manage surface water effectively across the site, Duradrain Combined Kerb Drainage Systems were selected for installation alongside the new roadways and walkways.
Manufactured by Duraproducts Ltd, Duradrain combines kerbing and drainage within a single lightweight recycled polymer unit, allowing surface water to enter through integrated kerb inlets and be conveyed directly into the drainage network.
The system offered several advantages for the project team. Its lightweight modular design enabled rapid installation, helping to improve efficiency on site. The use of recycled polymer materials also contributed to a lower carbon footprint compared with traditional concrete drainage solutions, while Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) provide valuable support for sustainability reporting and environmental performance assessments.
Installed along newly constructed roads and pedestrian routes throughout the campus, the Duradrain system has delivered a durable and effective drainage solution that aligns with the project’s sustainability objectives.
The Mount Lucas project demonstrates how modern polymer drainage systems can provide long-term performance while supporting faster installation and reduced environmental impact, key considerations for today’s infrastructure developments.
