Brighton and Hove City Council Unveil New Fleet of Electric Buses

With the Royal Pavilion as a backdrop, members of the public were given the opportunity to explore one of Brighton and Hove’s new fully electric buses at a community event in April.

The new fleet, secured through ZEBRA 2 funding, includes 16 new buses that will help the city provide a greener more accessible transport system. The council has worked to co-design and develop its services with a focus on the lived experience of passengers.

Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet Member for Transport and City Infrastructure, noted that ‘the arrival of these fully electric double decker buses is a major step forward in creating a cleaner city. The council’s joint bid with Brighton & Hove Buses to secure the ZEBRA2 funding from the Government is a great example of how we’re delivering sustainable transport for Brighton & Hove.’

The event also marked the opening of a new exhibition The Road to Electric at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, which showcases 140 years of Brighton and Hove Bus history.
