Archway Roadmaster, part of Velocity Roads Group, has achieved ISO14001 and ISO45001 certification – two internationally recognised standards that demonstrate the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility, operational excellence and the highest levels of workforce safety.
These dual accreditations mark a significant milestone for the business, confirming that Archway Roadmaster not only meets rigorous global standards but has embedded the culture, systems and leadership focus required to continually improve its environmental and safety performance.
Driving Environmental Responsibility
ISO14001 is the global benchmark for environmental management systems. Achieving this certification confirms that Archway Roadmaster has implemented a structured, proactive approach to reducing its environmental impact across all operations, from waste and emissions management to responsible use of materials, fuel and energy.
The certification process required the business to demonstrate that environmental considerations are integrated into decision‑making, that all relevant legislation is met, and that clear plans are in place to prevent pollution and drive year‑on‑year improvement.
Putting People and Safety First
ISO45001 sets out the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. By achieving this accreditation, Archway Roadmaster has shown that it has robust processes to identify hazards, manage risk and ensure its teams have the training, communication and support needed to work safely.
The certification reflects a culture where safety is a shared responsibility and a core value embedded in every level of the organisation.
Full Suite of ISO Standards and NHSS13
Alongside these new certifications, Archway Roadmaster has been reaccredited to ISO9001, the international standard for quality management systems. The company also continues to operate under NHSS13, the National Highway Sector Scheme governing the supply and application of surface treatments in the UK. NHSS13 provides a highways‑specific interpretation of ISO9001, ensuring that surfacing activities are planned, quality‑driven and delivered by a competent, fully qualified workforce.
With ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and NHSS13 in place, Archway Roadmaster now holds the full suite of ISO standards. Velocity Roads Group already maintains all three ISO accreditations, meaning both companies across the Group are now fully certified to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001.
A Company‑Wide Effort
Securing both ISO14001 and ISO45001 required a comprehensive, organisation‑wide programme of audits, process reviews and documentation improvements. Teams across the business played a key role in demonstrating compliance, strengthening systems and evidencing continuous improvement.
Independent external auditors assessed Archway Roadmaster’s management systems, leadership commitment and operational practices before awarding the certifications.
A Framework for Future Growth
These accreditations provide a strong foundation for Archway Roadmaster’s future development, supporting its ambition to deliver high‑quality, sustainable and safe road repair solutions for clients and communities across the UK.
Craig Lawrie, Group QSHE Manager at Velocity Roads Group, said:
“Achieving ISO14001 and ISO45001 is a testament to the dedication of our teams and the culture we’ve built across Archway Roadmaster and the Velocity Roads Group. These standards give our clients confidence that we operate responsibly, safely and with a long‑term commitment to improvement. They also provide a framework that will guide our growth and ensure we continue to deliver road repair solutions that protect our people, our environment and the communities we serve.”
Archway Roadmaster will continue to build on this achievement as it strengthens its operational capability and supports the wider Velocity Roads Group in delivering sustainable, innovative and safe road maintenance solutions.
