Coeval recently worked alongside Trackwork to deliver a safe and reliable over-height vehicle detection solution at Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The project focused on protecting both road users and live overhead line equipment at a level crossing with a 5 metre height restriction. To reduce the risk of vehicle strikes, Coeval designed, built and installed two bi-directional OVD systems, providing early warning for vehicles approaching the crossing from either direction.
Using infrared detection and secure radio-linked signage, the system identifies over-height vehicles in real time and activates clear stop instructions with enough distance for drivers to react safely. The wireless design removes the need for carriageway cabling, helping to minimise installation complexity and ongoing maintenance.
Delivered within a live rail environment and coordinated closely with Trackwork, the solution now provides a robust, low-maintenance safety control that protects critical rail infrastructure and enhances safety across the site.
