Beyond the Plug: What’s Next for UK Charging Infrastructure?

The Transport Technology Forum’s EV Charging Working Group is hosting an in-person event, bringing together local authorities, industry, government and researchers to explore the next phase of public EV charging delivery.

With plug-in infrastructure now scaling through LEVI and other programmes, the session looks beyond deployment to the challenges and choices that come next.

Key topics will include:

  • Power constraints
  • Cross-pavement approaches
  • Wireless charging
  • Accessibility
  • Cyber security
  • Procurement practice
  • Practical realities faced by councils

The event will feature updates from DfT/OZEV, Energy Saving Trust, innovators, charge point operators, alongside a mixed panel exploring how different charging and mobility options fit within real-world networks.

The aim is to provide local authorities and industry a clear understanding of what is emerging, what remains difficult and where support is needed as deployment becomes more complex.

Venue: Leonardo Hotel, Hinkley Island, Leicestershire

Date: 16 March 2026
