Velocity Roads Group Launches Social Committee to Drive Connection and Community Impact

Quarter four marked an exciting milestone for Velocity Roads Group with the launch of its new Social Committee, established to strengthen workplace culture and support local communities.

Velocity’s Commitment

Velocity Roads Group is committed to fostering a positive, connected and engaging workplace. The Social Committee brings colleagues together through social events, wellbeing initiatives, and community-focused activities that strengthen relationships and create a genuine sense of belonging. From organising social and wellness activities to leading charitable initiatives, the committee plays an important part in creating a more inclusive, collaborative, and enjoyable workplace for everyone.

With the festive season approaching and community need at its highest, the committee wasted no time in getting started.

Making an Immediate Difference

Despite being newly established, the Social Committee delivered a range of impactful initiatives across the group. Working in collaboration with employees, clients, partners and charities, the committee helped support those most in need.

Christmas Angels Campaign (Balfour Beatty Living Places)

The team proudly supported the Christmas Angels Campaign, helping to provide gifts and essential items to individuals and families who may otherwise have gone without at Christmas.

Veteran Hamper Initiative (Volker Highways)

In partnership with Volker Highways, the committee supported the Veteran Hamper initiative, donating items and recognising military veterans through thoughtfully prepared hampers as a gesture of thanks and appreciation.

Christmas Jumper Day

Employees across the business got involved in Christmas Jumper Day, raising funds for Save the Children, while bringing a bit of festive fun to workplaces.

Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal

Toys were generously donated and funds raised for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Toy Appeal, supporting local families during the festive period.

Local Coat Donation Appeal – Hendon Soup Kitchen

Numerous coats were donated and delivered to Hendon Soup Kitchen, helping children and adults in need stay warm this winter.

Powered by Its People

These initiatives supported families, children, veterans and individuals facing financial hardship, and were made possibly by the generosity and enthusiasm of Velocity Road Group’s people. The strong level of participation demonstrated the impact an employee led approach can have, even in its first quarter.

Looking Ahead

The success of the Social Committee’s first quarter has laid strong foundations for the year ahead. Building on this momentum, the committee will continue to develop new partnerships, volunteering opportunities, and initiatives that create lasting social value across the communities where Velocity Roads Group operates.

Looking forward to seeing many more initiatives to come!
