Miles Macadam Achieves SmartCarbon Level 2 – Reported Status

Miles Macadam has achieved Level 2 – Reported Status with SmartCarbon, marking another key milestone in its ongoing carbon accounting journey.

As part of its continued commitment to environmental responsibility and the reduction of carbon emissions across its operations and projects, this achievement reflects Miles Macadam’s dedication to transparent and measurable climate action.

The Level 2 – Reported Status recognises organisations that have calculated and reported their emissions, including at least five sub-categories of Scope 3 activity, and whose reporting narrative aligns with SmartCarbon’s “On TRACC” reporting principles. This ensures that data is not only comprehensive but also consistent and credible in its presentation.

Reaching Level 2 demonstrates Miles Macadam’s proactive approach to understanding and managing its environmental impact, forming part of its wider sustainability strategy that includes the continual development and use of low-carbon surfacing materials such as Milepave™.

The next phase of Miles Macadam’s SmartCarbon journey will involve setting a Net Zero target, further aligning its business with national and global goals to combat climate change.

Kit Ebben, Commercial Director at Miles Macadam, said:

“We’re delighted to have achieved SmartCarbon’s Step 2 – Reported Status. It’s an important step in ensuring we’re fully accountable for our emissions and that we’re taking meaningful action towards achieving Net Zero.”

Miles Macadam remains committed to driving sustainable innovation within the highways sector, helping local authorities and contractors meet their carbon reduction goals through responsible business practices and material innovation.
