We’re excited to announce that Coventry University will be showcasing its cutting-edge Simulation Van at this year’s Innovation & Learning Festival.
Taking place at NAEC Stoneleigh from 2nd to 3rd July 2025, the event promises to highlight the latest innovations and advancements in the highways and transportation sector.
As an Academia Member of LCRIG, Coventry University will present some of its latest innovations and projects. Positioned within the outdoor exhibition area, the university aims to showcase solutions that address challenges faced by local authorities and the wider sector.
This year, Coventry University will bring its Simulation Van to the LCRIG Innovation and Learning Festival. The van is a mobile version of The Simulation Centre, located at the Central Coventry, and showcases cutting-edge virtual training capabilities.
The Simulation Centre leverages digital technology to create immersive, real-time virtual training environments. Key features include:
- A 10-metre, 160-degree curved screen powered by the XVR Simulation platform
- Eight breakout rooms and a large meeting room, all connected via audio and CCTV for real-time monitoring
- Complimentary, dedicated Wi-Fi and data ports in every room
- An observation control room with five CCTV monitoring stations
- An integrated telephone system linking all rooms for seamless communication
For over a decade, the Simulation Centre has delivered highly effective experiential learning by creating bespoke simulations tailored to specific businesses or training needs. The expert team combines sector knowledge, simulation technology, and training proficiency to support learning across industries such as railway engineering, civil engineering, crowd management, construction, emergency services, and organisational resilience.
Through collaboration with clients, the expert team at The Simulation Centre design realistic and engaging scenarios that replicate physical workspaces and operational challenges. These simulations are designed to allow participants to develop, practise, and refine essential skills in a safe and cost-effective environment – without risking operational disruptions, financial strain, or public perception.
Among the featured projects at this year’s event is a British Council-funded initiative on Transport Safety and Security. Dr Ramy Shaltout MCIHT MPWI, Course Director for MSc Civil Infrastructure Engineering, will share best practices in developing resilient transport infrastructure.
In addition, Dr Neil Tsang CEng MIStructE, Curriculum Lead for Civil Engineering, will highlight Coventry University’s commitment to training future civil engineers, including its Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship programme.
