On March 19th, SteelPhalt™ officially opened a new plant, located in Basque Country, Spain, marking its first plant outside of the UK.
This significant development marks SteelPhalt’s first permanent asphalt plant outside of the United Kingdom, reinforcing the business commitment to expanding its innovation globally and advancing sustainable practices in the asphalt industry.
The plant is capable of processing over 195,000 tonnes of slag per year, enabling the production of up to 200,000 tonnes of sustainable asphalt products annually for regional roads. This expansion supports the Basque Country’s Circular Economy Strategy 2030, Basque Country’s Waste Prevention and Management Plan 2030.
