SPL Announced as Technical Learning Partner for the LCRIG Innovation & Learning Festival 2025

We are delighted to announce that Stabilised Pavements Limited (SPL) has been named the Technical Learning Partner for this year’s LCRIG Innovation & Learning Festival. As a long-standing supporter of the festival, SPL has played a crucial role in showcasing innovative solutions for efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable highway maintenance. Their expertise in in-situ road recycling aligns perfectly with the event’s mission to drive innovation, collaboration, and learning across the sector.

A Natural Partnership

For SPL, stepping into the Technical Learning Partner role was the next logical step in their ongoing support of the festival. As Gerry Howe, Managing Director at SPL, explains: “SPL have supported the Innovation & Learning Festival since its inception as we see the need for showcasing innovations and continually improving the way the industry delivers efficient and effective carbon-reducing highway maintenance. As an in-situ recycling company, becoming Technical Partner for the festival was the natural next step.”

Why the Innovation & Learning Festival Stands Out

Unlike traditional industry events, which focus primarily on presentations and networking, the Innovation & Learning Festival is unique in its ability to combine theory with practical, real-world demonstrations. This hands-on approach is a key reason SPL values its involvement in the event.

“Other knowledge-sharing opportunities within the sector are based around presentations, videos, and of course networking. The Innovation & Learning Festival does all this but then has the added opportunity to see live demonstrations of new and existing innovative plant and technology solutions. This is the only event where this is available.”

These live demonstrations allow delegates to experience the latest transport technologies, new materials, machinery, and maintenance methods in action, giving them a deeper understanding of the latest advancements.

Driving Value for the Industry

The Innovation & Learning Festival brings together local authorities, central government, industry suppliers, academia and apprentices – providing a unique opportunity for both experienced professionals and newcomers to explore the latest solutions shaping the future of the highways and transport technology sector.

According to SPL, the ability to connect directly with decision-makers and demonstrate innovation in a live setting is invaluable: “The event enables the sector to connect with decision-makers and people new to the industry, particularly apprentices, who would not ordinarily be at similar events. It enables the sector to demonstrate innovative maintenance options and technology solutions that clients may not be aware of and certainly may not have seen without them having to make a special journey to numerous live sites.”

For SPL, the festival has provided a powerful platform to showcase their innovative processes, helping the industry adopt more carbon-friendly, cost-effective, and time-saving solutions: “As a company, we have been able to showcase our innovative plant and processes that considerably reduce carbon, time and cost.”

The LCRIG Innovation & Learning Festival is built on strong partnerships that help drive knowledge-sharing and technological advancement in the sector. Charlotte Bromley, Head of Events at LCRIG, shared her enthusiasm for SPL’s continued support: “We are thrilled to welcome SPL as the Technical Learning Partner for the 2025 festival. Their commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and innovation in highway maintenance perfectly reflects the values of the event. Having worked closely with SPL since the festival’s launch, we have seen firsthand how their expertise and passion for progress benefits the industry. We look forward to working together to deliver another successful event.”
