Spotlight on Apprentices at the LCRIG Innovation & Learning Festival

LCRIG is thrilled to announce an exciting addition to our Innovation & Learning Festival, set to take place next July at Stoneleigh. For the first time, we’ll be putting a special spotlight on apprentices, with a range of initiatives designed to support, engage, and celebrate young professionals early in their careers within the highways and transport technology sector.

A New Pathway for Apprenticeships

LCRIG is dedicated to bridging the skills gap in the sector, and apprenticeships are a key avenue for cultivating a skilled, innovative workforce. At next year’s festival, we are offering fully funded places for apprentices from both the public and private sector, enabling them to attend along with their managers or mentors. This ensures that new professionals can also benefit from the wide array of learning opportunities.

Here’s a glimpse of what apprentices can expect at the festival:

  • CPD Sessions: A chance to earn valuable CPD points while expanding industry knowledge.
  • Live Demos: Engage with real-world applications in road maintenance and experience the latest advancements in technology.
  • Workshops: Sessions tailored exclusively for apprentices to help build specific skills.
  • Indoor and Outdoor Exhibitions: Discover cutting-edge innovations, products, and solutions addressing current and future challenges in the sector.
  • Speaking Slots and Panel Participation: Opportunities to voice ideas and learn from industry leaders.

We are also pleased to announce an extension of our DfT Special Recognition Awards with the introduction of the DfT Special Recognition Apprentice Awards, celebrating talent and growth across the sector.

Here’s a preview of the award categories:

  1. DfT Special Recognition Inspirational Apprentice Award – Celebrating apprentices in highways and transport technology who are driving change and inspiring others.
  2. DfT Special Recognition Exceptional Frontline Apprentice Award – Celebrating outstanding achievements on the front lines of highways and transport technology.

“Skills is one of LCRIG’s four key pillars, and we are thrilled to introduce initiatives that celebrate and develop young talent within the sector. By supporting apprentices and sharing insights through our events, we aim to address the skills gap and inspire the next generation of highways professionals.”
