It’s a small world.
Last year I was involved in a series of discussions with Salford City Council (SCC) in my role as CEO of LCRIG concerning various procurements. Since that time one of the SCC team has moved on and he is now supporting National Highways on what can only be described as a mega infrastructure project – the Lower Thames Crossing. National Highways is soon to hold a market consultation exercise and because of the LCRIG reach we have been asked to draw this to the attention of the wider LCRIG family. Obviously, they want maximum participation at the event as this will lead to a greater melting pot of ideas.

National Highways and the Lower Thames Crossing Team is dedicated to achieving the lowest possible carbon solution throughout the process of delivering the comprising works of this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). Further information on the scheme can be found here.
National Highways are seeking to engage with the market to ascertain the technologies and solutions available to help ensure we achieve this ambitious engineering accomplishment, whilst integrating the projects carbon reduction agenda.
On the 15th August 2022, National Highways announced a Market Consultation exercise on “Low carbon construction plant & hydrogen supply” as well as other supplementary carbon reduction solutions. This has taken place via the publication of an early engagement Notice via contracts finder. We are conducting this exercise to better understand what is possible in relation of low emission construction plant and equipment and Hydrogen supply.
