Our Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) project designed to allow Members and Non-Members to purchase the newest innovations from the Market took another step forward recently. Our Steering Committee, comprised of Members and Industry Leadership, met to discuss the best names for our innovation categories and the contents within each category. This is not simple as it requires us to agree to the challenges and the possible areas of innovation around an asset class or service.
The list below is the working names of the categories in no particular order. In the weeks ahead, you will have the opportunity to share your insights into what innovations – products and services – should be in each category. The reason we are using a category approach is that the DPS needs a structure to sort through the options available to find the possible solutions to develop a shortlist of suppliers to consider.
Category Names:
1. Flood and Water Management
2. Highways Surface Treatment and Repair
3. Green Space Management
4. Winter Service
5. Traffic Technology
6. Retroreflectivity
7. Structures
8. Specialist Consultancy Support
Our next Steering Committee meeting will be in mid-July. By that time, we hope to have agreed on next steps with the technology and the manner by which LCRIG will curate each innovation category. You will begin to see our efforts to engage and identify impactful innovations ready for deployment should you attend our Innovation Festival on July 6th and 7th – register here.
Should you wish to share your thoughts about the challenges within a particular category, we would welcome your insights. Please reach out to us via email
In closing, we are seeing the opportunities for the DPS will solve the problem of access to innovations for our local highways organisations. My thanks to the Steering Committee Members for giving their time and insights and the clarity they have helped bring.

Martin Duffy and Jason Sprague will be available at the Innovation Festival to discuss the DPS.
