Environmental Services
Senior Engineer- Traffic Management
£35,745- £38,890 per annum
37 hours per week
Permanent
Ref: 21CORP50821F
Based at Keynsham Civic Centre
The Traffic Management Team within the Highways and Transport Group is at the forefront of dealing with traffic and transport-related issues raised by the public, Councillors, schools, developers and the emergency services etc., including those relating to walking and cycling, public transport, road safety and traffic signals. We also provide specialist technical support and advice.
We have an extensive programme of work planned for the 2021/22 financial year, and the demand for support from the Traffic Management Team will also increase as the Council moves forward with its Liveable Neighbourhoods initiative, the introduction of additional Residents’ Parking Zones and the promotion of traffic and transport measures associated with the Climate Emergency, for example. We are, therefore, seeking to appoint a Senior Traffic Management Engineer to lead on the delivery of schemes on the Transport Improvement Programme, and to provide guidance and support to the wider Highways and Transport Group, elected Members, residents, businesses, representative groups and to other teams across the Council etc.
This is a high-profile and important role within the Team, so the successful candidate must have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience of transport and traffic management issues, be confident in leading by example and have the ability and desire to work with a variety of stakeholders.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes walk away.
