Surrey County Council (SCC) is responsible for several local public services in Surrey. The Environment, Transport and Infrastructure (ETI) directorate within SCC is responsible for a wide range of services including highways, transport, planning, countryside and waste management. These services are critical for people living, working and travelling through Surrey, delivered by the county council or in partnership.
About the Team
We are setting up a new team to carry out the Bridge Inspections throughout the County, you will be part of the team evolving and making this area of the business effective and efficient
The Infrastructure Schemes team within the Network and Asset Management Group comprises of 17 staff who are responsible for influencing and embedding the Highways Asset Strategy as it relates to the management of structures, drainage and VRS assets and translating the Asset Strategy into an annual works programme. The Infrastructure Schemes Team works in collaboration with its private sector delivery partner to design and commission works and is also responsible for planning and carrying out Bridge Inspections.
The team is highly technical and works on a wide range of projects from routine maintenance of structures to highly complex maintenance or replacement of structures, drainage and VRS projects. Maintenance of Structures forms the largest part of the team’s role with responsibility for inspection and maintenance of 1,200 structures as well as involvement with structures owned by other organisations such as Network Rail and Highways England.
About the role
Providing Specialist support for the team carrying out their functions of Delivering the annual Inspection programme you will also be involved in other works in Infrastructure Team, helping the delivery of Routine Maintenance and Capital Projects.
