Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has teamed up with local thermoplastic playground and road marking supplier UniPlay to mark Remembrance Sunday with poppy markings applied to road surfaces.
Using their state of the art cutting facilities UniPlay created “perfect poppies” which were applied to road surfaces outside of local memorials allowing the council to show their respect and “mark” the occasion.
After considering how to mark the forthcoming Remembrance Sunday, given the current national lockdown, the council were delighted to find that UniPlay were able to come up with a solution that was swiftly deployed across 20 sites throughout the borough.
Dwayne Lowe, Head of Highways at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, said: “We would like to say a big thank you for this to UniPlay, it was a perfect way to show support for our armed forces whilst we cannot gather together as usual.”
UniPlay MD, Paul Riley, added: “At Uniplay we were only too pleased to be able to assist with this hugely worthwhile project. Helping the local community to continue to remember (and pay their respects to) those who gave their lives to protect us, even in our own current situations with a national lockdown, is undoubtedly the right thing to do.”
