Keely Metcalfe Takes on the Great North Run for Alzheimer’s Society

At LCRIG, social value sits at the heart of what we do. As a Community Interest Company (CIC), supporting people and communities is just as important as supporting innovation across the highways sector.

That’s why we’re incredibly proud of our Relationship Manager, Keely Metcalfe, who is taking on the Great North Run in 2026.

Keely will be running the iconic half marathon to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, a cause that is deeply personal to her.

The Alzheimer’s Society is working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. The charity supports people living with dementia today while also campaigning for greater awareness and funding groundbreaking research that could transform the future of dementia care and treatment.

Keely sadly lost her grandfather in January 2025, and shortly after this her family received the difficult news that her grandmother had been diagnosed with early-onset dementia.

Keely explains why the challenge means so much to her:

“We sadly lost my grandad in January 2025 and shortly after this my family received the difficult news that my granny had been diagnosed with early onset dementia.

“Watching people you love go through this cruel disease is truly devastating.

“By raising money I want to do my part to support research, care and hope that maybe one day there can be treatments to slow, stop or even reverse this horrific disease.”

Everyone at LCRIG is incredibly proud of Keely for taking on this challenge and supporting such an important cause. As a CIC, we believe in using our platform to champion social value initiatives like this and support the communities we serve.

If you would like to support Keely’s fundraising efforts, donations of any size will make a difference in helping the Alzheimer’s Society continue its vital work.
