The UK government is accelerating efforts to build the infrastructure needed to support AI growth. AI Growth Zones will unlock investment in AI-enabled data centres and support infrastructure by improving access to power and providing planning support. This will help drive innovation, create high-skilled jobs, and strengthen the UK’s position as a leader in AI.
To support the development of AI Growth Zones, they are inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from:
- Regional and local authorities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – including city and regional mayors
- Industry – including data centre developers and energy firms
This will help them to understand early opportunities and inform the next stage of the programme.
