Last week, the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) was officially referenced in the Public Accounts Committee report on the condition and maintenance of local roads in England.
Our contribution provided valuable evidence to support the committee’s review of how Government allocates funding, evaluates the impact of spending, and offers additional support to address the increasingly complex challenges facing the local road network.
While LCRIG is a non-lobbying, non-partisan organisation, we are firmly committed to amplifying the voices of councils, SMEs, and other partners across the LCRIG community.
LCRIG’s CEO, Paula Claytonsmith, reflected on our contribution to the report:
“Although LCRIG is a non-lobbying, non-partisan organisation, we are passionate about the stories we hear from councils and SMEs. With more than 370 members including councils, supply chain, SMEs and academia, we hear the day-to-day issues faced by Highway Authorities and the wider sector.
“Our relationships with councils are regularly used by Civil Servants in DfT to gain insight into key issues. This is something we are extremely proud of, and hope to see it continue as an effective, independent, and trusted way of understanding challenges in the sector.”
