Valerann, a member of LCRIG, has been selected as a finalist in the National Highways Hazard Protection program. This initiative, to be delivered by the Connected Places Catapult, aims to safeguard road users by effectively managing hazards. The chosen nine innovative projects are expected to help identify hazards on motorways and major A roads.
The selected organizations will receive funding ranging from £15,000 to £30,000 to develop their trial designs. Subsequently, the projects will undergo further selection, with five ultimately chosen to receive up to £60,000 each for trial implementation.
James Gibson, National Highways’ Technology Programme Portfolio Manager, expressed optimism about the potential of these schemes to improve road safety. He noted the challenge of selecting from numerous impressive submissions and looks forward to seeing these ideas develop.
Valerann’s AI real-time road data analytics platform integrates data from various sources to deliver insights into road traffic situations and accident risk modelling. This improves road traffic authorities’ situational awareness and empowers them to make accurate, actionable, and timely decisions.
