View from the top: Strictly Highways agenda to break the norm

Earlier this week, I managed to catch up with Paula and Alec from our team to go through a whole range of issues including how we can influence the net zero agenda.

The discussion inevitably turned to Strictly Highways 2022 as Paula and Alec are leading on this event. I don’t want to give away anything at this stage, but I can promise you, in the words of Monty Python, something completely different. They described the context to me which is certainly a break from the norm and I’m convinced the event will be captivating over both days.

It was so fantastic to see just how enthusiastic Paula and Alec were about designing an elegant and unique solution for our main conference. I guess you only get this feeling by taking risks, by doing something new and being bold enough to stand by your conviction. This made me think about just how resilient all of the innovators are who attended our Innovation Festival just recently, as more often than not, there were more highs than lows when trying to bring their new products and services to market. Those who have taken such risks by being in the vanguard at the most advanced stage of development, will ultimately enjoy the benefits this brings and I know this will be the same for Paula and Alec as they see their plans turn into actions.

I wanted to make the point about taking risks at it would have been so easy for them to fill the agenda with somewhat expected presentations by great presenters as I know this would fill every available seat, but they have chosen to do something different – how LCRIG that is. In due course, they will start to release some of the detail, but don’t delay, get the dates (4-6 October) in your diary now as I guarantee you wouldn’t want to miss out!
