Delegates attending next month’s LCRIG Innovation Festival will have the opportunity to attend sessions that are being delivered by the Department for Transport (DfT).
The new event, which will take place from 6-7 July at Newark Showground, has been established to ‘make the case for innovation’ and will bring together local authorities, central government, the supply chain, associations and academia.
On the 6th July, Laura Murphy – Head of Road Network Statistics, Road Network Statistics will deliver a presentation entitled ‘DfT Road Data: measuring local roads’.
Laura will cover off the following topic(s):
- Road condition monitoring data standard
- Any questions on how this impacts authorities
- Timelines
- Current position on project elements
- Position on technical author and steering group
Then on the 7th July, Matthew Eglinton, Head of Local Highways Maintenance, Innovation, and Resilience, Local Infrastructure will lead a session entitled ‘Local Transport Plans: driving better outcomes for local authorities and UK.’
Matt will cover off several topics including DfT plans to deliver new LTP guidance and incentivise LAs to update their LTPs. He will also discuss:
- How an updated LTP could ensure achievement of key strategic objectives for both LAs and nation
- Discussion of quantifiable carbon reduction targets as an element of LTPs
- Signposting to other DfT work to support LAs to deliver in line with strategic objectives – capacity and capability support, Live Labs 2 (+ Live Labs 1 outputs), LA decarb toolkit, etc
Each session will take place at 2pm with attendees given the opportunity to participate in a Q&A.
