Vacancy – Leeds City Council – Area Network Officer x 2

SALARY C3 – £25,481.00 – £27,041.00
HOURS 37
CONTRACT TYPE Permanent
CLOSES Sunday 21 February 2021 11.30
JOB REF req3536

The team works with a wide range of people and organisations such as individual residents, developers, utility providers and internal works promoters as part of our duties. This planned work ranges from the licencing of skips through to the co-ordination of major highway works and international events such as the AJ Bell World Triathlon and Tour De Yorkshire. In addition, the team plays a leading role in the Council’s incident management processes when they impact on the network.

To help manage Leeds City Council’s Network Management Duty, the Council’s street works permit scheme has recently been amended to apply to all streets maintained by Leeds City Council, allowing greater control over the whole network and movement of traffic throughout the city. As a consequence of this and the unprecedented amount of large schemes planned for the next few years through programmes including the Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme and our Connecting Leeds proposals, we have a number of opportunities in the team at various levels.

These include the position of Area Network Officer; working with the Area Network Engineer the post holder will assess and respond to permit applications from various work promoters, along with requests for temporary road closures, and a variety of highway licence applications. In addition the post will be responsible for meeting work promoters to discuss works, and investigating customer enquiries on site to provide a satisfactory response. Applicants should have knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act 2004, Highways Act and an understanding of highway activities and construction.

We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds. Leeds City Council is a Stonewall Top 100 employer, a Mindful employer and a Disability Confident employer.

All new Leeds City Council appointments are made subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period.
