Established in 2013, early SWHA projects focused on collaborative procurement, which continues to be a strong theme for the Alliance. As the SWHA has matured over the last seven years, its focus has shifted to a broader range of activities, which include sharing good (and bad!) practice examples, regional performance benchmarking and knowledge sharing, and delivering training.
The Alliance’s activities are underpinned by 10 lively, technical groups covering a wide range of highway services. They are empowered to progress specific initiatives, such as the HIRAM toolkit, which was developed by the Climate Change Task & Finish Group, to help authorities provide a Climate Change resilient core network.
Members of LCRIG are also provided with a Member Profile. This service provides each member with the opportunity to share their organisation’s details, job opportunities, news, videos and links to key information. Members are also able to request for LCRIG to facilitate communication between members and the wider highways community.
