WJ Group Secure Place on National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework

WJ Group have secured a place on National Highways’ new £3.6 billion Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF).

The road safety and marking specialist were the preferred Lot 6 (Roadmarkings) supplier, securing the maximum permitted allocation, by placing first in the tendering process across four of the new SDF regions, the South West, South East, Midlands and the North West.

The SDF secures WJ Group’s position as a key delivery partner for temporary and permanent road markings, road studs, high friction surfacing and joint repair, extending the current five-year relationship with National Highways for a further six years.

Billed by National Highways as the largest and most comprehensive renewals programme ever embarked upon, the SDF has the aim of making the Strategic Road Network safe and serviceable. The mobilisation phase has already started with the team established to go live in the first area from 01 November.

WJ secured its place as a result of its commitment to innovation, in terms of equipment and materials, as well as its geographic positioning, commitment to sustainability and its training resources. In addition, WJ Group’s commitment to delivering local social value across each SDF region was a key differentiator, specifically the investment and support offered to local communities through both the employment of local people to service the contract.

Group CEO and Founder, Wayne Johnston, commented: “After successfully delivering road markings and associated works for over 30 years on the Strategic Road Network, this latest success positions WJ Group as the premier provider of road marking services in the UK. I’m delighted we’ve been able to secure a place on the SDF in our four preferred regions and I look forward to continuing to build on the successful partnership we have developed with National Highways.”

Group Operations Director, Martin Webb, commented: “As we’ve grown the business, both organically and through acquisition, we have developed a network of strategically located depots that an deploy large amounts of resource throughout the country, whilst still being able to respond quickly at a local level. A good example of this is our recent acquisition of Bellstan, which increases our coverage along the M4 corridor and the surrounding areas.”
