Watch LCRIG’s presentation on reaching net zero together

The Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) recently spoke at an Institution of Lighting Professionals (ILP) event in London on the subject of ‘Reaching Net Zero Together’.

The event took place in London earlier this month and was also streamed online. The ILP’s ‘Light Back Better’ mantra encourages innovation in the pursuit and support of sustainable lighting.

LCRIG Content Director Alec Peachey presented an overview of LCRIG and its aim to deliver practical solutions to help councils achieve net zero.  He also spoke the creation of LCRIG’s net zero working group.

Alec said: “It was a real honour to be asked to speak at the event alongside such an esteemed panel of speakers. The lighting sector has done a lot to reduce carbon emissions, particularly through the conversion of street lighting stock to modern LED smart lighting. The other speakers covered topics such as the circular economy, carbon literacy and reuse & recycling. During my presentation I stressed the importance of removing silos both in the public and private sector, and hopefully helped show how the lighting sector can team up with others. We look forward to continuing to work with the ILP and its members on an ongoing basis.”

The other speakers were:

  • Melissa Zanocco, Head of Programmes, Infrastructure Client Group ICG.
  • Kristina Allison, SLL and Lighting Designer, Atkins Global.
  • Nigel Harvey, Chief Executive, Recolight.

You can watch all of the presentations on demand via the ILP’s website here.
