View from the top: The sky is the limit!

A literal view from the top!

This past week we were delighted to welcome colleagues from DfT to listen about our future plans for LCRIG.

Over the course of two days we were able to discuss how we would realise our plans in support of their Strategic Objectives which confirmed a strong alignment between our two organisations.

In addition we were also lucky enough to visit Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council where Dwayne Lowe and his team shared their approach to dealing with asset management – and mighty impressive it was too. Our three colleagues from DfT were keen to explore how their asset data capture compared with the more traditional SCANNER results.

On the second day we paid a visit to Blackpool Council where John Blackledge and his colleagues shared their vision, captured in a vibrant masterplan for the town and there was no better vantage point to witness the locations of planned developments, plus those currently underway, than from the top of Blackpool Tower. For me, as I am sure it would be for many of us, it brought my childhood memories flashing back of this wonderful structure and the commanding 360-degree views.

I’m delighted to say I was brave enough to walk across the infamous glass floor suspended 380 ft above ground level, evidenced by the photo, even though it did take a moment to summon up the courage.

Now back on with the day job of delivering our exciting plans.
