View from the top: Paula Claytonsmith to join LCRIG

It’s always fantastic to share good news, and from an LCRIG perspective this will take some beating.

I’m excited to announce that Paula Claytonsmith who currently works with Gaist, will join LCRIG in early May as our Director, Government and Strategy. It’s a little bit of a cliché to say ‘Paula brings with her a wealth of experience…’ yet I don’t want to underestimate the difference that I know Paula will make to our organisation because of her experience. She has always been interested in how roads help to serve our communities particularly from a societal context (Broadband, deprivation, Economy and so forth) and she has a healthy interest in central government policy and how to grow relationships with a whole range of stakeholders. In conjunction with Paula, we have already identified the key topics she will focus on from May onwards that are an ideal match for her somewhat unique skill sets that we simply couldn’t tackle without her. These initiatives will support LCRIG to build upon its current successes into strategic insights that will move tacit learning into structured knowledge and policy sharing for public good.

After making her decision to join us Paula said ‘I’ve loved my time at Gaist, and I’ve had some truly wonderful opportunities. But the excitement I feel for the next stage with yourselves is just wonderful. My heart has always been in Local Government and I am looking forward both personally and professionally to building and getting involved in the future of growing LCRIG’.

For those of you who know Paula, you will know why the whole LCRIG team is so delighted to welcome her to our organisation, and I would ask all of you to do the same.
